Now that my new job isn’t new anymore I figured I would follow-up on my experience so far.

My experience since August has a been a pretty good one so far. I only get about 5 trouble calls a week or so from nagging end users and it’s usually the same person. I guess you can’t make everyone happy, but oh well. The rest are usually automated messages from the servers, which don’t usually(key word) get an attitude with you.  I spent the first month or two getting everything the way I want and automating alot of the repetitive tasks. So far so good. I’ve been able to chill out for alot of the time and worry about other things like expansion and upgrades rather than running around putting out fires. Since I’ve been the master of the network I’ve deployed a few new servers and a rather large disk array in our data center downtown.

We also had a kick ass X-mas party downtown in a pretty kick ass restuarant. Everything was paid for by the company. They rented us a whole section with our own wine and beer selection. The food was off the chain some of the best filet mignon (pronounced like it’s spelled) I’ve ever had.

Anyways, me is a happy camper.
